About Konopiště Château
Konopiště is a medieval castle rebuilt in the late nineteenth century by Archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, heir to the Habsburg throne. He lived here with his wife Sophie and their children until the fateful journey to Sarajevo in 1914. The interiors are kept much as they were, which makes the visit feel personal rather than museum-like.
